Our History

The Emergency Relief Catering Company (ERCC) is a well-established and experienced small business offering large volumes of fresh meals, shelf-stable meal kits, frozen meals, and commodity kits on short-notice nationwide

In late 2012, ERCC’s President Edwin Merrigan — a sub shop franchisee at the time — was called upon to deliver 30,000 fresh box meals to first responders and National Guard troops over a two-week period in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. After successfully executing the mission, he explored the possibility of providing a similar response on a national level, which led him to build a trusted network of capable vendors across the country and found ERCC as a one-call solution for large-volume box meal delivery nationwide.

Over time, ERCC’s core team and national vendor network have grown steadily, enabling our services to expand beyond the initial fresh box meal product and include hot catering, shelf-stable meal kits, frozen meals, and commodity kits.

ERCC also offers a VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) Program through which shelf-stable meals can be produced upon purchase and stored at our warehouse for immediate shipping upon activation.

To date, ERCC has served tens of millions of meals in support of responses to hurricanes, wildfires, derechos, COVID-19, unrest, and more all across the country. We are honored to have aided clientele ranging from government agencies and private companies to VOADs and non-profits in their feeding efforts nationwide — and we strive to continue being a trusted meal partner in the world of disaster relief for many years to come.
